The Stitch-Tine Chapel
06/26/09 - Pretty Cool

“This extraordinary recreation of the Sistine Chapel ceiling by Michelangelo has been painstakingly recreated by simple cross-stitching. The masterpiece, by Canadian needle-worker Joanna Lopianowski-Roberts, 44, who lives in San Francisco, California, USA, took a gruelling eight years to replicate in all its amazing detail. Michelangelo only took four – from 1508 to 1512 – to complete his original on in the Vatican City chapel in Rome. Using a British concept by cross-stitch guru Dave Peters, called Xstitch Professional, Joanna spent at least one hour every day with the work on her lap.” w/ photos
