“A sophisticated robot that is able to move and learn like a three-year-old child has made its first outing in the UK. The iCub is able to crawl and walk, make human-like eye and head movements and recognise and grasp objects like a toddler, scientists say. Believed to be the most advanced humanoid robot in Europe, the robot went on display at Manchester University yesterday. The prototype, which is 39-inches tall and weighs 50 lbs, is being developed by the RobotCub Consortium in Italy, which consists of several European universities. The aim of the five-year $9.5million project is to develop a highly dexterous humanoid child robot.” w/ photos + video
