“If you’re looking for a dark, gloomy drinking hole to hide away with a pint this Christmas, the Marine pub in Eastbourne isn’t it. The landlord has made sure his bar is filled with festive cheer by decking it out in 18,000 twinkling lights and 1,000 baubles. Phil Saunders, 58, spent two and a half weeks assembling the decorations, which also include festoons of colored foil and half a dozen holly wreaths. The Christmas lights are so bright that they are using more than $140 of electricity each week. The pub started its Christmas collection 26 years ago, and it is now worth an estimated $14,000.” w/ photos
