The 40ft High Hedge

August 12, 2008

“Next time you pick up the shears to trim the hedge, count yourself lucky you don’t have this giant to contend with. At 40ft, it is the tallest yew hedge in Britain and keeping it tidy is a mammoth job. It takes two workers, a cherrypicker and two days of solid work, costing more than £5,000, to give the 300-year-old hedge on Lord Allen Apsley’s Bathurst Estate in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, its annual trim.” w/ photos
