“A 10-year-old has become the first girl in Britain to achieve all 33 of the scouting movement’s activity badges – and the youngest child ever. Rebecca Hooper astonished scout leaders by pulling off the stunning feat – only previously managed by boys – before her 10th birthday earlier this month. The schoolgirl set to work after a cub scout leader joked that she needed to ‘pass all the badges’ before she could achieve her silver award. Rebecca thought he meant all 33 activity badges when in fact she needed just five ‘challenge’ badges. The schoolgirl was saluted for her ‘determination and enthusiasm’ after she has tackled activities ranging from astronomy to animal care and DIY to martial arts.” w/ photos
