“On the heels of Ken Blocks insane Gymkhana videos and the groundbreaking snowboarding/rally part to close out DCs MTN.LAB 1.5 video, the DC Co-Founder and Rally Team Driver has joined with Subaru to make the worlds fastest cat track operation automobile for backcountry access for snowboarding. Dubbed the TRAX STI, this is a new teaser video from the test session for the highly-modified, snow-ready (to say the least) car.”
“Even with recent improvements in virtual reality technology, it’s still almost impossible to physically walk through virtual environments. Now, European researchers have started a project named CyberWalk, demonstrating their omni-directional treadmill, named CyberCarpet.”
“A physicist has created one of the most detailed panoramic image ever created of the Milky Way using 3,000 images. Dr Axel Mellinger spent two years and travelled 26,000 miles to different vantage points across the globe in a mammoth effort to create the super-intricate photograph. Searching for the best views in different countries and later piecing together his collection in a studio, the incredible project resulted in this spectacular view of the full night sky with our vast galaxy at the centre. Named ‘All-Sky Milky Way Panorama 2.0′, the colossal image shows as many as 25 million stars and never seen before dust lanes – smears of cosmic dust seen against the black sky at night. ‘This panorama image shows stars 1000 times fainter than the human eye can see, as well as hundreds of galaxies, star clusters and nebulae,’ said Professor Mellinger, 42, from Central Michigan University. ‘It shows our place in the galaxy. If you can imagine floating in space with the Earth and sun not there, this is what we would see. The spectacular panoramic was the result of thousands of hours of traveling and meticulous planing.” w/ photos
