“It’s know for its casinos, bright lights and soaring temperatures but today the desert city of Las Vegas is blanketed in several inches of snow following a rare storm. More than six inches of the white stuff fell on the city, forcing schools to close and causing problems for motorists unused to driving in slippery conditions. The famous hotels and landmarks of America’s gambling capital were left under a blanket of snow as the storm blew into the valley yesterday. But it’s unlikely any punters had put any money on snow falling this Christmas – the city has only had measurable levels of snow five times since 1937.” w/ photos
