Giant Halibut Caught Off Iceland

This giant halibut caught off Iceland weighed in at staggering 32 STONE and measured 8FT in length. The whopper, caught by a trawler, will fetch $2,000 once it is cut up and could feed 500 people. Average halibut range in weight from 4-20 lbs – and are tiddlers compared to this 448lb monster. The giant creature was sold yesterday morning at Fishgate market in Hull and bought by local fishmonger A E Purdy. The man with the task of preparing the giant fish is Lee Beech who has worked in the fish industry for more than 20 years. Mr Beech said: ‘It’s a monster. It’s the biggest one I’ve seen in all the time since I’ve worked here.” w/ photos
