Judaism Vending Machine

05/29/09 - Ridiculous

“Last Thursday, I was in the Jerusalem central bus station and I noticed an unusual vending machine on the second floor between the middle staircase and the escalator. The vending machine did not have candy bars or potato chips or soda. The vending machine was offering booklets to learn Jewish laws and traditions. This was the first time I saw this type of vending machine. I happened to have my camera with me so I snapped some pictures…” w/ photos by Jacob Richman

Hamburger Sneakers

“Adding to the podiatric pantheon of food-inspired footwear (Supra for Stubbs BBQ) comes this collaboration between Asics and Japanese retailer Gettry. The Asics x Gettry Procourt AR comes in all the colors of meat and cheese, lettuce and tomato, ketchup and mustard — right down to a perforated upper that resembles a seeded bun and french fry photo-printed insoles. What do you expect from a country that takes the design aesthetic for serving hamburgers so seriously?” w/ photos

Paper Dress

05/18/09 - Ridiculous

Ever imagined wearing a dress made out of paper? House-Wear, a truly imaginative brand founded by artist Laura Sansone is all about eco-fashion, but in a different way than what you may have seen before. Laura’s cheeky and light-as-a-feather PAPER WEAR line is made out of Tyvek, a material which is usually reserved for mailing envelopes! Not only do these clever garments “push the envelope” by using a familiar material in a new and exciting way, but the trompe l’oeil look is spot-on in terms of what’s hot right now in fashion.” w/ photos

Keyboard Pants

05/12/09 - Ridiculous

“Today was Fashion Hacking day with Diana Eng at NYC Resistor and I’ve wanted to make these keyboard pants for a long time. The basic idea was to take a flexible silicone keyboard and somehow integrate it with some pants (or shorts). I had they keyboards laying around for a while and I ran down to the Conways to get some jeans for about $8 (Yay fulton mall!) This was inspired by a cool project I saw a long time ago on the hypernets.” w/ photos
