“I flipped my dreadlocks in front of an exceptional high-speed camera shooting on the low end of its abilities; a mere 6,800fps.” — T.Bias

DDT: Dance Dance Tetris

11/17/09 - Pretty Cool

“First let me say to you that this is very similar to Dance Dance Revolution and Tetris mixed together. Then let me say to you that it’s run on a little thang called the Arduino open-source electronics prototyping platform. In this project is a new way to play tetris – interacting with your feet and your body rather than just with your fingertips. Made by interface designers Luyza Pereira and Bettina Hiel for a school project. Bet ya’d have trouble, ya pro!” w/ photos + video

Super Mario Museum

11/17/09 - Pretty Cool

“Remember when you bathed in Super Mario bubble bath, or carried your PB&J in a Nintendo lunch bag? A makeshift museum popped up over the weekend to showcase nostalgic Super Mario Bros. artifacts like those, including costumes, games, bubble bath, ponchos and even a Mario cake pan. “I didn’t know Mario had so much random stuff,” said Jason, a longtime Mario fan. “A cake pan? Some of this stuff is Kiss-level gratuity, but I love it.” The museum, set up by Nintendo to celebrate the Saturday release of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, was part of a launch event at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center. The items on display were collected by Nintendo employees over the years.” w/ photos

“Here’s the deal, my extremely talented good friend Nicolas Girard was returning to his native France for good. So what does he do with his remaining time here in Canada? Why he decides to build his friend the most awesome joystick ever! And so the NEStickle was born!… Now Nicolas was kind enough to provide some work-in-progress pics for your viewing enjoyment! And here they are.” w/ videos

Space Chair Project

11/17/09 - Pretty Cool

“Toshiba’s new Space Chair ad was inspired by a sub culture of scientists and artists who send objects to the edge of space using weather balloons. Grey London collaborated with a number of talented individuals, including British artist Simon Faithfull, to re-create the concept of launching a generic chair into space, and by using their own HD cameras, to demonstrate how Toshiba technology can take something ordinary and make it extraordinary.”

Mechanical Horse Of Steel

11/16/09 - Pretty Cool

A mechanical horse that trots and gallops on steel-pipe legs, under the impulse of a gasoline engine, is the recent product of an Italian inventor. With this horse, he declares, children may be trained to ride. The iron Dobbin is said to canter along a road or across a rough field with equal ease. Its design recalls the attempts of inventors, before the days of the automobile, to imitate nature and produce a mechanical steed capable of drawing a wagon.” w/ photo

Super Mario Box

11/15/09 - Pretty Cool

“If you own multiple gaming consoles, you already know that keeping everything organized can be a pain, particularly if you sometimes pack up and take it all to a friend’s house. Nightmare? For most of us, sure. But not for anyone crafty enough to whip up a MarioBox. Definitely awesome on the outside, especially for anyone who gets as excited over pixel art as I do. But the inside? One hundred times more impressive.” w/ photos
