“A mighty battle is about to ensue between fantastical armies composed of recycled metal parts. Armando Ramirez creates an admirable chess set as he transforms an assortment of parts into two proud legions. Spark plugs become towers whereas sprockets form the base of each rugged piece. The horses’ manes are made from galvanized wire and their bases are taken from a car’s ignition. The same ignition components are used to make the base for the queen and king, and her majesty’s legs are made from parts of a car’s electric system. The king’s cross is made from nails.” w/ photos
