“A Brownsville mother is behind bars after she drove down her street with her 9-year-old son riding on the hood of the car. Brownsville police arrested Evelina Alvarado on a child endangerment charge. Neighbors told police that they saw 30-year-old Alvarado driving her maroon Ford Fusion down Cinco de Mayo Street with her son on the hood. Alvarado allegedly told investigators that she thought it would be “fun” to have her son ride on the hood on the “short distance” to their house.”
