“A teenager sparked a massive rescue operation after an eight-foot-deep hole he dug on the beach collapsed on top of him. James Boyden was trapped in the sand for two hours as around 100 people, including firefighters and other emergency crews, worked to stop more sand falling on his head. The huge bird – a grey heron – was seen feasting at Herbert Park pond in Dublin last week and amazed onlookers as he ate one and then returned to grab another. Koi carp are not cheap to come by and usually cost at least $143 per fish, so the heron got himself a gourmet meal deal with his choice. A park visitor said: ‘He just swooped in and grabbed the first.
