Laser Harp II

07/31/09 - Pretty Cool

“Just to clarify, It really works and I am *playing* (not miming) along to the Jean Michel Jarre track – and the track does have the laser harp notes on it (it’s from the album) – but I do play a bit without at the end – just to confirm it does work. Heh, no one was more cynical than me about the original laser harp – so I guess I proved it to myself.” — shobley

Incredible Paintings By 6-Year-Old Boy

“A street scene from the paintbrush of a child usually involves triangle-topped boxes for houses. And often an unnaturally large dog. But Kieron Williamson’s attempts are so beautifully rendered that artists ten times his age will be filled with envy. Experts have said that the six-year-old’s atmospheric paintings, which began with harbour scenes and expanded to include rural vistas, animal portraits and landmarks, have perspective, shadow and reflections that demonstrate an ability well beyond his years.” w/ photos

Trucker Crashes Into Swimming Pool

07/31/09 - Wacky News

A tow-truck driver who crashed into a car and ended up in a swimming pool was texting on one mobile phone while he was speaking on another, police said. Nicholas Sparks, 25, admitted he was texting and talking when his vehicle struck the car on Wednesday morning in the upstate Oxford town of Lockport. One of the cars it was towing flew off and struck a house, crushing the air conditioner and gas main, according to Fire Chief Barry Kobrin. ‘It took out three or four sections of fence, and there’s some structural damage to the house,’ Kobrin said. One of the motorcycles being towed flew off the truck, landing underneath the car on the lawn. The tow truck ended up with its front end in the home’s in-ground pool. The homeowner, who asked not to be named, said it sounded ‘like a bomb went off.” w/ photos
