Clown Laid To Rest With Highest Honor

05/30/09 - Wacky News

Norman Thompson considered cheering people up his duty. As a Shriner and member of the Antioch Shrine Funster Clown Unit for 15 years, Thompson took his work seriously. The clown unit specializes in eliciting smiles from and comforting children who are burn victims or have orthopedic problems. By all accounts, Thompson, also known as “Boppo,” was good at what he did with a great sense of humor and a ready smile. Thompson, 79, died Monday, May 25. He was buried Friday, May 29, with the highest honor a clown can receive: he was “carried to his resting spot by his fellow clowns,” said Mick (Willie the Clown) Lile, the Funsters’ director known informally as the boss clown. “Our motto is ‘Clowns having fun helping kids,” Lile said. “We work so they can play.” w/ photo

Electronic Guitar Pick

05/30/09 - Neat Products

“I’m trying something new here with circuit boards. This is a guitar pick made from a orange driver card. Tougher than wood or even plastic, flexible but will never get bent out of shape like metal. It’s body is made of durable layers of light weight fiber glass and copper. Hand cut and shaped smooth it also has two sides… you could use this to play and have a tool with a long durability or even added in a piece of jewelry.” w/ photos

Popular Movies And Their Black Counterparts

05/30/09 - Interesting

“People are always finding ways to make things more accessible to their particular culture. Take the taco, for example: Hispanic cultures have been eating delicious tacos for a long time, but then some Americans got a hold of it and said, “y’know what the problem with this taco is? It’s not a salad!”, and lo and behold, the Taco Salad was born. This seems to happen a lot with popular movies, too. With that in mind, we decided to use venn diagrams to compare and contrast some famous movies and their black counterparts.” w/ photos

Top 5 Mind Blowing Experiments With LSD

05/30/09 - Top Lists

“LSD has long been a staple of overweight, furry men with ponytails who list their occupation as ‘Earth Shaman’ on tax forms. The CIA is more typically known for their starched suits than their mind exploring orgies. So if we told you that the CIA was trippin’ balls before Hunter S. Thompson even knew that balls existed, you’d probably call us liars. Well, prepare to have your mind, like, blown man. Here are the five strangest things you didn’t know about the CIA, and how LSD really came to be.” w/ photos
